The IntraLase Method Means Truly Blade-Free LASIK

Amazing Technology for a truly custom-designed LASIK flap

The IntraLase Method (iLASIK) is a 100% blade-free approach to creating your LASIK flap — the thin flap of tissue that the doctor creates to perform your LASIK procedure. The IntraLase Method can only be performed using the IntraLase Laser. Millions of procedures have been performed safely and effectively using the IntraLase Method. With the IntraLase Method, you can have a LASIK procedure that’s 100% blade free, exceptionally advanced, and has been shown to improve outcomes for more patients.

iFS Advanced Femtosecond Laser

With the IntraLase Method, tiny pulses of laser light, a quadrillionth of a second each, pass harmlessly through the outer portion of your cornea and form a uniform layer of microscopic bubbles just beneath the surface of your eye. The IntraLase flap creation process takes about 15 to 20 seconds per eye. When it’s time for your LASIK treatment to be performed, your doctor easily lifts the flap to apply the LASIK treatment.

Traditionally, doctors have used an instrument called a microkeratome for the creation of the LASIK flaps. The microkeratome is a hand-held blade that moves across the eye, cutting the LASIK flap as it goes. LASIK is extremely safe, but if complications do occur, the mocrokeratome is frequently the cause.

The IntraLase Method virtually eliminates the most severe sight threatening complications. The IntraLase Method is 100% blade-free, exceptionally advanced, and has been shown to improve outcomes for more patients.

WaveScan™ Wavefront 3-D Mapping

WaveScanAs the first step in the iLASIK Procedure, your physician will take a detailed picture of your eyes. This picture creates a 3-D map of each eye, what we call a customized WaveScan map. This one-of-a-kind snapshot (every person’s eyes are unique) serves as the individual road map for your iLASIK Procedure. This mapping step is what enables you to get a truly personalized result, and is one of the valuable benefits that make the iLASIK Procedure unique.

WaveScanDon't be misled by laser vision correction procedures promising custom treatment with "wavefront optimized" technology. Only Advanced CustomVue technology provides custom wavefront-driven laser vision correction with iris registration which delivers unmatched levels of mearsurement accuracy essential to optimizing outcomes. The Advanced CustomVue procedure provides the broadest range of U.S. FDA approved wavefront-driven laser vison correction treatments including myopia, hyperopia, and all forms of astigmatism, including mixed astigmatism.

Iris Registration (IR)

Precise pupil alignment with Iris Registration (IR) provides a fully automated method for aligning, registering and tracking wavefront corrections for the CustomVue laser correction treatment. IR provides greater alignment accuracy by matching multiple reference points from the iris to compensate for any pupil rotation or shift that occurs when a patient changes from a seated to lying position.

Advanced CustomVue™ Procedure with the VISX™ Star S4 IR Excimer Laser System

VISXThe Advanced CustomVue Procedure begins with an individual vision evaluation using our WaveScan System which creates a map of your eyes’ unique imperfections. The Advanced CustomVue Procedure uses the digital information from that map to design a custom treatment for each of your eyes. This WaveScan map information is then transferred to the VISX Star S4 IR Excimer Laser. The laser uses this information to apply a cool laser beam that reshapes your cornea to create a new curvature and correct your vision.  The VISX Excimer Laser features 20 years of innovation and is made by the people that invented laser vision correction technology.
