Intralase Blade Free LASIK

Traditionally the flap created during the LASIK (laser assisted in situ keratomileusis) procedure was made with an automated mechanical blade called a microkeratome. Although LASIK is very safe procedure, if there are complications, many times those complications are associated with the blade. With the invention of IntraLase Blade Free technology, virtually all of those complications can be eliminated.

The IntraLase laser has been used in LASIK surgery for over a decade now. IntraLase technology uses a laser called a femtosecond laser to place precisely positioned pulses of energy just below the surface of the eye. The result of these energy pulses is a uniform layer of bubbles which creates a separation in the cornea. With a special instrument, Dr. Baker is then able to lift the flap without a blade ever touching your eye.
